MoYO RING
As part of my commitment to use ethically sourced gemstones in my jewellery, I designed a ring to be exhibited at Elements Festival, Edinburgh. The ring was used to promote the exhibition’s Ethical Making Programme to support the adoption of responsible and sustainable practices in Jewellery and Silversmithing.
The beautiful garnet gemstone in the ring has been responsibly sourced from female miners in the Umba Valley and Tanga regions in Tanzania. The miners are part of a program which aims to empower women miners to work in a safe environment, with better conditions, to provide improved financial security, and create stable and equitable markets for Fair-trade.
The solitaire gemstone has been paired with a tapering etched band with a Winter etched pattern in Fair-trade 18ct gold.
